How does the new Wagoneer S compare to the Trackhawk?

With the recent popularity of the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, many Mopar fans have been overlooking the other three companies in the big four. Chrysler, Jeep, and RAM have all been looking into electric powertrain options, and some of them look quite promising. Jeep’s brand-new Wagoneer S is a perfect example. It’s a new high performance SUV from Jeep, intended to rival their beloved Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. But does it really compare to the big V8?

The looks factor:

The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S looks VERY futuristic. They’ve made a big redesign to the standard front fascia that has been on most of the post-WK2 SUVs. The grille has been made shorter, angled more outwards, and also now replaces the headlights for some reason.

On the other hand, the WK2 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has a much more muscular vibe. The dual-vent hood, the big wide fender flares, the aggressive front fascia, it has it all when it comes to being a “muscle SUV”. Personally, I think I would have to go with the WK2 on the exterior looks.

Interior

The Trackhawk’s interior is VERY outdated. For a 2021 SUV, it looks like it was designed in 2006. The entire center console and screen setup looks annoyingly old. The leather seats have the same SRT stitching that’s been there since 2015. Don’t even get me started on how low quality all the interior parts are. It’s half plastic. Definitely a no-go for me.

The Wagoneer S has a very modern interior, very similar to the new 2024 Dodge Charger Daytonas. Sleek lines, a performance based wheel, almost everything is leather, beautiful lighting, and a huge screen. The Wagoneer would definitely be my pick here.

Performance

Now it’s time to get into the real meat of this comparison. Who performs better on the track?

Trackhawk Specs:

Brake Horsepower: 707

Torque: 645 ft-lb

Curb Weight: 5,363lbs

Drivetrain: AWD

Wagoneer S Specs:

Brake Horsepower: 600

Torque: 617 ft-lb

Curb Weight: 5,667 lbs

Drivetrain: EV AWD

The Trackhawk is definitely going to be the winner here. Significantly better for top end speed. It would definitely win most rolls. Though I would have to go with the Wagoneer S for the drag strip. Obviously, being electric making instant power, with a relatively similar horsepower count, would eat the Trackhawk off the line.

So which one is better?

Both of these SUVs are at a similar price point at 70-80k USD depending on options. If you want a comfortable, luxurious SUV that you can put your family in and go to dinner while still being able to kick it when you want, get the Wagoneer S. If you don’t care about comfortability and just want to look badass, be loud, and go fast, get the Trackhawk.
